Instructor: Paul Randall
Sessions: 12 Tuesdays
SPSCC: (360) 754-7711
As the name states, this class begins at the beginning. The first of 12 classes will cover the supplies and equipment needed to do Watercolor painting. Students are asked to NOT bring any painting supplies to the first class. The instructor will provide student grade paints, brushes and paper along with a mounting board at the first class. The first class will be a show and tell of the materials used in the class. Students will be given a small list of required support items that they can easily obtain and bring to the second class.
After the initial “get acquainted” class we will start exploring the world of Watercolor Painting. Each class will build on the previous ones. We will go from baby steps in the beginning to ending the class running with abandon.
Classes will start with how to lay out a painting then move on to how to use the tools at hand, the “rules of 3”, the use of the color wheel, the mixing of primary colors to get the needed colors to paint the painting. In short the class will give the beginning student the knowledge to paint with watercolor. The subject matter to paint in the first few weeks will be provided by the instructor. When the student’s knowledge and experience has grown sufficiently they will be allowed to provide their own subjects.
The goal of this class is to provide enough training and practice so at the end of the class the student will have produced a painting worthy of being matted, framed and hung.
